Rockport Harbor

Francis Revesz Ferryman

Hungarian-American 1893-1957
pastel 26" x 20"

Ferryman was born in Hungary and attended Budapest University where he studied architecture. He went on to study painting in London with Walter Sickert and Frank Brangwyn. He emigrated in the 1920's to the United States and settled in Little Neck, New York.

Over the course of his lifetime he had over thirty internationl one man shows in venues such as Philadephia, Chicago, Australia, Dresden, Budapest, London, and New York.

This view of Rockport harbor is abstract with the indivdual elements fractured but still recognizable to the viewer. The viewer is able to see the sailboats in the harbor as well as the buidings that line the dock. The soft colors radiate with the feeling of a warm spring day in Maine. This nicely framed painting was purchased from a Florida Antique dealer in 1998 for $2850.
