Between 1978 and 1982, Michael Knigen created a series of 50 paintings and prints inspired by the works of Japanese woodblock artists. His photographs of the city skyline, subways, street corners and urban scenes (in contrast to the colorful Japanese works) were printed directly onto a special photographic linen, a technique he pioneered; he then hand painted his interpretations of Japanese images to the foreground in acrylic and enamel paint. The Japanese Suite sold out. We have one of those originals under paintings. Japan Society featured his work on the cover of their annual three years. He maintains a select few Artists Proofs at his studio. Limited edition lithographs hand drawn by the artist are still be be found on the secondary market. 36 years later, he has returned to the theme with even more dramatic effect, now using the computer and the latest digital technology to produce in his studio these limited edition prints. We are pleased to represent the artist directly in our gallery and on this website at a special, artist-authorized price of $750 on 22.5" x 30" BFK Rivesor Lana imported rag paper. For this size on stretched canvas, add $75. The limited edition includes any and all sizes as long as the original proportions are maintained. Because the artist personally controls the limited edition and prints most in his own studio, he can customize both the size and the material used, including up to murals up to 10 feet x 30 feet on canvas, stretched or wall mounted with removable glue. contact us for price Hokusai Choki Utamaro Kuniyoshi Kunisada Haranobu Buncho Shunso Sharaku Hiroshige Toyokuni horizontal vertical red blue green yellow purple Knigen mural |
