   Born in Ohio, this work is typical of her agricultural landscape scenes with the inclusion of an old, large red barn in the scene surrounded by vegetation. The vegetation surrounds the barn almost enclosing it, giving the impression that the structure is isolated within the woods, despite the fact that the indication of civilization confronts the viewer in the foreground with the addition of the partially plowed field.

   Brown studied at the Dayton Art Institute, the Cincinnati Art Academy and Columbia University. She was a member at the Dayton AI and the Cincinnati Women's AC as well as teacher in the public schools in the Dayton area.
