Pizzenelli was one of the Associated American Artists stable of graphic artists.  This touching rendition of a mother and child is striking for its quiet atmosphere. The work was completed with the greatest attention to detail in the skin and clothes of those depicted. The child calmly sleeps on the lap of its mother recalling Madonna and child scenes completed throughout the history of art.
