Davenport & Shapiro Fine Arts, 37 Newtown Lane in the walkway from the parking lot to Newtown Lane in East Hampton May 15 with a special exhibit of earlier work of Michael Knigin in our East Gallery. Our west gallery will feature an eclectic selection, leaning towards modern abstract and geometric art. Upstairs we have a section devoted to the American Scene and one devoted to Works on Paper, ceramics, glass and bronze sculptures.

Leonard Davenport has been in the antique and fine art business since the early 1970s when he dealt in Japanese ceramics, paintings, netsuke and lacquer. Since the 1990s, he has focused on American post-war ceramics and paintings. He and his wife Gail Davenport have done art and antique shows all over the East Coast. They live in Bridgehampton, where they show by appointment. Call 631-537-3324 for more information. Sometimes we can show you a piece in real time. Call and ask how you can using Skype.

Davenport & Shapiro's  goal is to place quality, well-priced works of American art in the hands of discerning collectors and homeowners. We focus on American Impressionism, tonalism, early modernism, abstract expressionism and WPA, as well as sculpture and sculptural ceramics. We work with collectors and decorators and offer art consultation services, framing, conservation and restoration services. We also pride ourselves on offering visually interesting and decorative art by by-passed regional artists of talent.

We represent a few artist friends, but we don't specialize in a style or period, seeking out individual items that appeal to our eclectic aesthetic and that we can offer at / near or below auction prices, without a buyers' premium and with a guarantee (see below). Much of the art we buy and sell never makes it to this site. Click on SOLD button for a an idea of the things we are interested in buying.

The merchandise on display at a show, on this website, even on our companion website, on AskArt, or VandM, and/or Hiden Galleries and/or in our soon to open gallery  is only a fraction of our inventory. Let us know your interests. We have opened a convenient private gallery by appointment to dealers, decorators and previous private customers. Call 631-537-3324 or email us directly at LSDArt@ mac.com an appointment. We take M/C and VISA and regularly arrange lay-aways.

We will send you a pass to any of our shows. Click on the show if highlighted in blue for more detailed information. Then give us a call. It's a convenient way to inspect a work of art you found on the website. We'll bring it, subject to prior sale, or hold it for you for a nominal refundable deposit. The cost of shows has risen dramatically, so our show prices are sometimes higher than on this website. Mention you saw an object here to get the best price.

Visit our companion website for items starting at $10. Visit Leonard on Facebook.
